Cinema Paradiso

Quaint but somewhat formulaic and predictable, especially the shallow romance (then again, I suppose all teenage romances are shallow and predictable). The reviews I read all thought the hour-longer director’s cut was inferior, so I watched the original version. But the DVD keep freezing up so that probably tacked on an extra 30 or 40 minutes anyway. Rating: 6
