Faces (rewatch)

Honestly, I’ve just been in a terrible mood to watch movies lately. I’m feeling especially restless but with my current back problems there’s not a lot else I can do to occupy myself. I think I’m gonna switch to videogaming for a while, cinema just hasn’t been engaging me enough. Which is to say nothing against Faces, a film still exceptionally brilliant in its moments of awkwardness and vulnerability and raw humanity. I wept a little at the film’s climax, which might have something to do with my current emotional state, but certainly some credit to the wonderfully tender, tentative and genuine interaction between Seymour Cassel and Lynn Carlin.
