14 Hours (rewatch)

This was a mistake, I went a little crazy when all the “Fox Film Noir” titles were on sale at Amazon. I already knew it wasn’t very noir, and that furthermore I didn’t really want to see it again, but I got caught up in the moment. But it turns out I did want to see it again, and it is a little bit noir. It actually pulls off a rather neat trick in being so harshly cynical throughout and yet so life-affirming by the end, and does it without seeming forced or unbalanced. Paul Douglas is really excellent, too. Not going to keep it, but I’m glad I watched it again. Rating: 8
