Three Strangers (rewatch)

This almost-noir didn’t win me over as much on the second viewing. Lorre is so fantastic in this movie (as is Joan Lorring) that his thread makes the other two pale in comparison. Fitzgerald manages to carry herself like a true femme fatale, but her storyline has no zing to it, not enough time to develop. Same for Greenstreet. The ending is wonderful, but on the whole it just doesn’t come together… feels like Lorre’s story with some extra bits stuffed in here and there. Still a fine movie, but not one I needed to see again, much less purchase. Rating: Good (77)
