Hiroshima Mon Amour (rewatch)

Posted by martinteller on April 12, 2005

I still like how different this movie is, I doubt there’s anything else quite like it.  And I like all the stuff about Hiroshima, and I like the woman’s story of her affair with the German officer.  But I really couldn’t give a damn about the relationship between the two main characters.  It’s all so weighted down with that ridiculously heavy dialogue, words that could only have been written for actors to speak.  People don’t talk like this, and it’s way too much voice-over for my tastes.  It’s too hard to get into, and after the first half of the movie I just get bored.  I’d recommend that everyone see it once, but I probably won’t watch it again.  Rating: 7
