Blazing Saddles (rewatch)

Posted by martinteller on August 8, 2007

Most movies don’t hold up well after a dozen viewings, so if I didn’t laugh out loud that much while watching this, that doesn’t make it a bad comedy.  On the contrary, it’s wickedly funny and subversive, with unbelievably great performances all around.  I really do believe that Richard Pryor would have been worse than Cleavon Little in this role.  And some gags (“Where the white women at?”) still elicit big belly laughs.  Rating: 9
