Die Hard and Die Hard 2 (rewatch)

Posted by martinteller on February 4, 2008

Curse these Amazon Blu-Ray sales, compelling me to buy movies I don’t really want.  Oh, I wouldn’t go so far as to say I HATE these movies… they’re great for the action, McClane is a likeable enough character, and even the one-liners aren’t bad.  But each has its own problems.  The first is heavy on the working-class hero bullshit, with the clueless authority figures doing all the wrong things and the little guys having magic powers of intuition (and the less said about Zombie Karl, the better).  The second one alleviates this a little bit, but the trade-off is a really convoluted situation, riddled with plot holes (although I don’t quite understand why it gets hated on so much more than any other in the series).  Good brain-off entertainment, I guess, but I’ve seen both more than enough times.  Rating: 7 each
