The Lives of Others

Posted by martinteller on June 19, 2008

Kind of like The Conversation in East Germany.  A little bit predictable, and I didn’t really buy Weisler’s transformation.  But, it’s a fine film, if not particularly mind-blowing.  I thought it struck a good balance between the political and the humanistic.  It could have ended 15 minutes earlier, without the whole epilogue/coda part.  But then again, the final moment is a nice one.  Rating: 8
