Lone Star

Speaking of John Sayles, here’s one of his films that I’ve been meaning to check out for a long time.  A compelling, multi-layered drama that touches on the cultural makeup of the American south, uncovering the uncomfortable past, and father-son relationships.  The past-present transitions are done really well… I’m sure it’s a trick that’s been done before, but I thought it was pretty neato.  The one thing that bothered me was the dialogue, with people talking a little too profoundly.  Otherwise, quite a good flick.  Rating: 8
