Blonde Ice

Posted by martinteller on November 18, 2010

Like Decoy, this is another Jack Bernhard poverty row noir centered around a vicious femme fatale.  Leslie Brooks plays the role quite well.  Ice cold, indeed… this character feels like a prototype for the calculating and psychotic Dr. Kimberly Shaw from “Melrose Place”, and others of her ilk.  Unfortunately, there’s not much else going for this movie.  The plot is mildly engaging, but you can predict just about every move.  Except for a few of the typical venetian blind shots, there isn’t much atmosphere.  Really the only part where it reaches the manic giddiness of Decoy is the ending, and even that is tempered by a nonsensical resolution to the story.  Don’t get me wrong, the movie is fun, especially in watching Brooks cold-heartedly tap-dance her way through her sins.  But it doesn’t really stand out and I can’t imagine it will linger with me very long.  Rating: 6
